Modern software development: How it's changed and what you'll miss if you don't change with it.
The Internet, enabled through new software and services, has changed nearly every aspect of modern life.  To support this new paradigm, developers have created new tools and processes that enable faster development, more redundancy, improved collaboration and tons of other business benefits.  However, how many traditional businesses are taking advantage of these new capabilities? Many of us have transitioned from developing Windows apps, to web-based .Net or Java apps to using Containers, Micro-services, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Test Driven Development, and PaaS.   Additionally, as we continuously introduce new technologies into the stack, how do we deal with the ever growing tail of technical debt? At this ITMA event, we'll learn from a company that helps others make that transition and from businesses that have started the journey.  We'll also discuss how these new tools impact traditional software life-cycle issues (development, support, continuous improvement and technical debt) and even IT organizational structure (Dev/Ops).
Even if you don't have an internal software development team, having a good understanding of new software development practices will help you evaluate your software vendors and how they deliver their product.  Don't miss out on the conversation!
